By decision of the Dean’s Council, the best student of our Faculty for the academic year 2024/25 is Ms. Marta Cholewa.
Ms. Cholewa is a second-cycle Astronomy student and achieved a grade point average of 4.96. In September, she returned from a summer internship at ASTRON – Netherlands Institute for Radio Astronomy, where she carried out a project on pulsars.
For years, she has actively supported the UMK community through extracurricular activities, including participation in the Quality of Education Council and the Scholarship Committee. She is also the president of the UMK Student Astronomy Society.
Ms. Cholewa conducts research under the supervision of Dr. Marcin Gawroński from the Institute of Astronomy. Her research on FRB (Fast Radio Burst) objects has been presented at conferences of the Polish AstronomicalSociety in Warsaw, in Kyiv, and at the student conference KSAKN 2024.
She is a recipient of grants from IDUB UMK, the Rector of UMK, and the Mayor of Toruń. Notably, Ms. Cholewa was also recognized as the Best Student in the academic year 2022/23.
