Polpharma Scientific Foundation grant for employees of the Department of Pathophysiology

Polpharma Scientific Foundation grant for the Faculty of Pharmacy at Nicolaus Copernicus University – PLN 654,900 for an innovative therapeutic project

A team from the Department of Pathophysiology of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Nicolaus Copernicus University Medical College in Toruń has received PLN 654,900 in funding from the Polpharma Scientific Foundation for a research and implementation project dedicated to preventing premature discontinuation of inpatient addiction treatment.

The project manager is dr Inga Dziembowska, assistant professor at the Department of Pathophysiology of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Nicolaus Copernicus University Ludwik Rydygier Collegium Medicum in Bydgoszcz, author of the grant application and initiator of the project dr hab. Artur Słomka, professor at the Nicolaus Copernicus University, is also involved in the research work, collaborating on the project as part of the scientific activities of the Department of Pathophysiology. The team is responsible for developing the research concept and supervising its implementation.

The clinical part of the project is co-implemented by Łucja Boguń, MA, head of the Alcohol Addiction Therapy Department, and Joanna Jaskólska, MA, clinical psychologist – both associated with the Dr. J. Bednarz Provincial Mental Health Hospital in Świecie.

Joanna Grześkiewicz from Collegium Medicum UMK is responsible for the administrative coordination of the project, while Krzysztof Dziembowski, CEO of Studio AEVIA, is responsible for the design and implementation of the mobile application.

The project will result in a modern mobile application that enables early identification of patients at risk of discontinuing therapy and supports therapists through personalized clinical recommendations. This solution has the potential to increase the effectiveness of treatment, reduce the number of relapses, and strengthen clinical practice in addiction treatment centers in Poland.
