Professor Jan Styczyński awarded the Medal of Merit to Polish Science ‘Sapientia et Veritas’

Prof. Jan Styczyński, MD, PhD, a specialist in clinical transplantology, paediatric oncology and haematology, and paediatrics, was honoured with the Sapientia et Veritas Gold Medal for Merit to Polish Science.

Professor Styczyński heads the Department and Clinic of Paediatrics, Haematology and Oncology at the Dr A. Jurasz University Hospital No. 1 Collegium Medicum UMK in Bydgoszcz. Together with his team, he is developing an innovative project entitled ‘Development of CAR-T cell therapies in paediatric oncology’, which aims to implement advanced cell therapies in the treatment of childhood cancers.

The Gold Medal was awarded for a series of original scientific publications and international recommendations on bone marrow and haematopoietic cell transplantation. Prof. Styczyński’s scientific achievements are the greatest at the Collegium Medicum UMK, both in terms of total impact factor and ministerial scoring. He is also one of the most frequently cited scientists not only at the university, but also internationally.

The ‘Sapientia et Veritas’ Medal for Merit to Polish Science is awarded for outstanding contributions to higher education and science. The award has three levels – gold, silver and bronze – and is given to individuals with outstanding scientific, teaching and organisational achievements.
