Dr hab. Beata Kaczmarek-Szczepańska, Professor at the Faculty of Chemistry, Nicolaus Copernicus University – leader of the EPIBIOMAT research group, together with dr Joanna Skopińska-Wiśniewska (member of the EPIBIOMAT research group) and dr Justyna Kozłowska, Professor at Nicolaus Copernicus University (member of POB MOPS), combine scientific activity with the practical application of research results. Together, they co-founded NatChemLab, a company specialising in the development of modern cosmetic and material formulations.

The team focuses on designing safe and effective products that meet the needs of people with sensitive and problematic skin. One of their most important achievements is the development and implementation of a specialised oncology cream for skin care during or after cancer treatment. The cosmetic is based on a proprietary composition of natural ingredients and is manufactured in accordance with GMP standards.

This innovative solution was recognised at the international E-NNOVATE fair in 2022, where it received a gold medal and the Best National Innovation Award. In 2023, NatChemLab was honoured with the title of Innovation Leader of Pomerania and Kujawy, and the product was awarded the Made in Toruń quality mark.

The researchers’ activities are not limited to the commercial sphere. They are also involved in educational and science popularisation activities, cooperating with organisations supporting cancer patients, as well as with young people and senior citizens.

Their activities are an example of effectively combining the scientific potential of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń with the implementation of innovative solutions that respond to real social needs.
