The Copernicus Panel on Climate Change (CPCC)

Project Leader: Dr. Hab. Adrian Dominik Wójcik, Prof. UMK

The goal of the Copernican Climate Panel (KPK) is to develop a standardized tool for tracking public opinion on climate change and support for various pro-environmental policies. Current social research in Poland is fragmented, making it difficult to monitor changes in public opinion over time and to study causal relationships between different sets of views. The planned research will focus on new forms of climate change denial and their connections to ideological factors. Additionally, some questions will be reserved for representatives of activist communities.

The KPK has both a team-oriented goal and an applied goal. The team-oriented goal will be achieved through the integration of researchers from UMK, the development of their methodological skills, and appropriate networking via collaboration with international experts involved in the project. Strengthening these competencies will also be crucial for the further independence of young researchers and supporting their academic careers.

The applied goal will be realized through the engagement of environmental organizations and governmental institutions in the research process and the dissemination of results, which may support the development of responsible public policies.

We are open to collaboration from researchers across all scientific disciplines who are interested in the social dimension of environmental protection and in expanding research competencies in this area.
