Dr Hubert Jóźwiak, currently on an internship at Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands, has been awarded an MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship 2025 grant.
The 24-month project, Two-body loss and sticky collisions in ultracold molecule-atom systems (2STICKY), will be carried out at Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands in Dr. Tijs Karman’s group. The aim of the project is to investigate the mechanisms responsible for the unexplained loss of ultracold molecules in optical traps, which is a major obstacle to the creation of stable quantum gases. The research will consist of a theoretical description of the formation of long-lived complexes during so-called “sticky collisions,” combining rigorous quantum scattering calculations with statistical models extended by spin interactions. Understanding and controlling ultra-slow particle collisions will contribute to the development of new platforms for quantum engineering and simulation.
