SMART I in § 4(6) is replaced by the following:

‘6. The proposed trip shall start no later than 6 months after the announcement of the decision of the selection board.’.

SMART II in § 4(6) is replaced by the following:

‘6. The trip that is the subject of the application shall start no later than 6 months after the announcement of the decision of the selection board.’.

SMART 2 – continuous recruitment

Dear all,
Approval of the committee minutes for the awarding of funding in the SMART 2 competition is done by the Coordination Team, which has its last meeting before the summer vacation on June 20. The next meeting is not until early September. So in between meetings (during the holiday period), applications will not be processed.

The aim of the SMART 1 competition is to enable the University’s students to pursue their education in foreign universities through additional financial support for Erasmus+ mobility. The financial support is implemented in the form of a student mobility grant. The competition additionally allows students to gain international research experience by carrying out an independent research project or participating in the implementation of a research project conducted at an institution during a trip to a foreign university or scientific institution.
The competition is intended for:
– I and II level students of the Nicolaus Copernicus University who are qualified for teaching trips from the Erasmus+ program,

The aim of the SMART 2 competition is to enable the University’s students to complete internship and placement trips in foreign universities through additional financial support for Erasmus+ trips. The financial support is implemented in the form of a student mobility grant. The competition offers the opportunity to additionally gain international research experience by carrying out an independent research project or participating in the implementation of a research project conducted at an institution during a trip to a foreign university or scientific institution.
The competition is intended for:
– I and II level students of the Nicolaus Copernicus University who are qualified for internships and placements from the Erasmus+ program.
PLEASE NOTE: Applicants to the SMART 2 mobility competition should do so one and a half months in advance of their departure date.

The aim of the SMART 3 competition is to enable people studying at the University to gain international research experience by providing financial support for research projects at foreign research institutions. The competition makes it possible to obtain funding for a 2 to 4 week research visit (internship) to a foreign research institution.
The competition is intended for:
UMK undergraduate and postgraduate students who are willing to undertake a 2-4 week research visit to a foreign scientific institution.

Applications, with all needed attachments shall be sent using the application form:

The competitions are aimed at students at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń who demonstrate a desire to carry out research projects at foreign research institutions. SMART 1 is aimed at students from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń who have been qualified for the Erasmus+ programme in the 2024/25 academic year (a teaching trip to a foreign university or research institution). Under the SMART 3 competition, it is possible to obtain funding for a two- to four-week research visit (placement) to a foreign scientific institution.

The competition requirements and application procedure are specified in the competition regulations introduced by Orders 155 and 157 of the Rector of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń of 19 July 2023.

Applications submitted under the competitions were assessed by a competition committee appointed by the IDUB coordination team.

A total of 27 applications were received under the two competitions: 16 under the SMART 1 competition and 11 under the SMART 3 competition of which 1 was withdrawn by the applicant .

The committee recommends that the applications prepared by the following persons be allocated for funding under SMART 1:

The competitions are aimed at students at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń who demonstrate a desire to carry out research projects at foreign research institutions. SMART 1 is aimed at students from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń who have been qualified for the Erasmus+ programme in the 2024/25 academic year (a teaching trip to a foreign university or research institution). Under the SMART 3 competition, it is possible to obtain funding for a two- to four-week research visit (placement) to a foreign scientific institution.

Konkursy są przeznaczone dla studentów UMK w Toruniu, którzy wykazują chęć realizacji projektów badawczych w zagranicznych jednostkach naukowych. SMART 1 skierowany jest do studentów UMK w Toruniu, którzy zostali zakwalifikowani do programu Erasmus+ w roku akademickim 2023/24 (wyjazd dydaktyczny do zagranicznej uczelni lub instytucji naukowej).

W ramach konkursu SMART 3 możliwe jest uzyskanie sfinansowania trwającej od 2 do 4 tygodni wizyty naukowej (stażu) w zagranicznej instytucji naukowej.

Wymagania konkursowe oraz tryb zgłoszeń do konkursy jest określony w regulaminach konkursowych wprowadzonych Zarządzeniami nr 155 oraz 157 Rektora Uniwersytetu Mikołaja Kopernika w Toruniu z dnia 19 lipca 2023 r.

Zgłoszenia nadesłane w ramach konkursów zostały ocenione przez komisję konkursową powołaną przez zespół koordynujący IDUB.

W ramach obu konkursów wpłynęło łącznie 50 wniosków: 41 w ramach konkursu SMART 1 (2 wnioski z Nauk Ścisłych i Technicznych oraz 39 wnioski z Nauk Humanistycznych, Społecznych i o Sztuce)
i 9 w ramach konkursu SMART 3 (wszystkie z Nauk Humanistycznych, Społecznych i o Sztuce).

2 Competition Description:
The purpose of the competition is to enable students of the University to gain international teaching experience through the implementation of trips to foreign universities with which the University has signed a partnership agreement within the framework of the YUFE program or within the framework of interuniversity partnerships implemented by Centers of Excellence and Emerging Fields. Within the framework of the competition, it is possible to obtain financial support for a one-semester visit to a foreign scientific institution in the form of an increase in the travel grant obtained under the Erasmus+ program.
