2. Training Description:
Academics, doctoral students and research support staff are invited to participate in workshops conducted in English on the methodology of acquiring funding from Horizon Europe.
The trainings are conducted live, remotely (Zoom app) by Sean McCarthy, a prominent specialist associated with the European Commission’s framework programs for more than 30 years.
The autumn edition of the training was divided into two parts:
Online Workshops (Zoom) for newcomers to Horizon Europe:
- Identifying Opportunities in Horizon Europe – this workshop is designed for researchers who are new to Horizon Europe. At the end the workshops, the researcher will be able to prepare a Power Point presentation listing research opportunity in Horizon Europe.

- Strategic Networking at a European Level – this workshop is designed to help researchers to be strategic about their networking activities in Europe. For experienced European researchers, it will help them refine their networking activities. For newcomers to Horizon Europe, it will help researchers develop their European networks.
How Horizon Europe Proposals are Evaluated – this workshop is designed for researchers who are planning to participate in Horizon Europe. The workshop explains how to analyse an Evaluation System and then applies this to the different Pillars in Horizon Europe.

Online workshop (Zoom) for experienced Horizon Europe participants, coordinators and partners in Pillar II proposals
- How Pillar II Proposals are Evaluated – this workshop is designed for researchers who are planning to participate in a Pillar II Proposal. The workshop explains how to analyse an Evaluation System.
How to Screen Pillar II Proposals (Proposal Clinics) – This workshop is designed for researchers who are planning to participate in a Pillar II Proposal. The workshop is based on the presenter’s evaluation of over 200 European research proposals and coordination of 16 European research projects. The workshop describes how to screen proposals using a process called a ‘Proposal Clinic’.
