Training description:
Academics, doctoral students and research support staff are invited to participate in workshops conducted in English on the methodology of obtaining external funding.
The trainings are conducted live, remotely (Zoom app) by Sean McCarthy, a prominent specialist associated with the European Commission’s framework programs for more than 30 years, an 30 years, and Sylvia McCarthy, a European Union policy analyst.
Participants at previous meetings find the content universal. The issues of networking and professional proposal preparation can be used not only when working on applications to Horizon but also when obtaining funding from other research funding institutions. Contact with the trainer directly is encouraged to ask questions and get answers to nagging questions related to the application preparation.

- Identifying Opportunities and Networking in Horizon Europe
10.04.2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm (maximum 80 participants)
The first part of the course provides an overview of Horizon Europe Funding Landscape and visits each Pillar and each programme.
The second part of the course describes how coordinators select partners to submit applications and how to create strategic networks at European level.
Newcomers, the course will help develop their European networks. Experienced researchers will help improve networking activities.
- How to Write a Competitive Proposal for Pillar II (Horizon Europe)

The course focuses on the second pillar of the Horizon Europe program. It first describes how to analyze a Pillar 2 work program. It then explains how scientists with high success rates approach Pillar II. This course shows researchers how to screen proposal ideas, screen partners and prepare the proposal in an efficient way. The course will provide participants with the skills needed to understand and plan proposals.
