Training for academic teachers Communication and conflict resolution with intercultural aspects

Training Description:

We invite academic teachers to participate in a training course on: Communication and conflict resolution with the specificity of working in cross-cultural environments. The training will be conducted in an interactive manner with elements of team coaching and active learning. An additional benefit will be the use of the FRIS® method, thanks to which participants in the training will acquire specific and practical information on personal mechanisms of thinking, acting and communicating with others. FRIS® provides guidance on what areas a person performs best in, how they should approach problem solving effectively, and how best to communicate with people with different Thinking Styles. Knowing one’s Thinking and Acting Style opens one up to the diversity of the people around them, so it supports collaboration with people from other cultures.

The FRIS® survey requires people to fill out (prior to the training) an online questionnaire consisting of 76 questions. Completion time is approximately 30 minutes. The training will take place in a stationary form in the Bydgoszcz and Toruń parts of the University, and will be implemented in three blocks, in groups of 15 people.

Group 1 – Toruń

Training Program:

Day 1 Communication and conflict resolution

  1. Impact of diversity on communication.
  2. Unconscious aspects affecting communication.
  3. Skills related to communication and conflict resolution.

Day 2 Influence of personal style on communication with others

  1. Individual differences resulting from different FRIS® Thinking Styles.
  2. Analysis of individual results of the FRIS® survey.
  3. How individual differences affect communication and team collaboration.

Day 3 Communication in a cross-cultural team (5h)

  1. Dimensions of culture and cross-cultural communication.
  2. Needs and different strategies for meeting needs according to cultural considerations.
  3. Developing intercultural competence.
