  1. Call for Proposals for postdoctoral fellows outgoing to foreign institutions under the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” programme
    The objective of the calls of proposals is to enable young scientists employed at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń to gain international research experience by completing postdoctoral internships at recognized foreign scientific institutions. The competition may be entered by a person who obtained a doctoral degree within 3 years (in justified cases up to 5 years) before submitting the application and is employed at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in the group of research or research and teaching staff. In justified cases, the competition may be entered by a person for whom the procedure of awarding a doctoral degree has been initiated prior to submitting the application and who meets other criteria for entering the competition. The competition is aimed at members of Emerging Fields teams as well as those outside the centers of excellence and EF.
    Applications shall be sent using: the application form.

2. Call for Proposals for postdoctoral fellows incoming to the NCU under the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” programme
The objective of the calls for proposals is to internationalise scientific research and/or education at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń through postdoctoral fellowships undertaken by young scientists from abroad. The calls for proposals are open to anyone who has been awarded a doctoral degree from a foreign scientific institution within up to 3 years (where justified up to 5 years) prior to submitting an application. In justified cases, the competition may be entered by a person for whom the procedure of awarding a doctoral degree has been initiated prior to  submitting the application and who meets other criteria for entering the competition. The competition is aimed at researchers planning a visit to an Emerging Fields team or department (does not apply to visits to university centers of excellence). 
Applications shall be sent using: the application form.

3. Competition for experienced scientist and research – teaching employees outgoing to foreign institutions as part of the “Initiative of Excellence – Research University” program
The objective of the competition is to enable experienced scientists employed at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń to gain international research experience through short-term visits to recognized foreign scientific institutions. The call of proposals may be entered by a person employed at the Nicolaus Copernicus University as a professor or university professor as well as assistant or, if he obtained a doctoral degree within more than three years of submitting the application and meets other criteria for entering the competition. The competition is aimed at members of Emerging Fields teams as well as those outside the centers of excellence and EF.
Applications shall be sent using: the application form.

4. Rules of the Call for Proposals for professors incoming to the NCU under the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” programme
The objective of the calls for proposals is to internationalise scientific research and/or education at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń through postdoctoral fellowships undertaken by young scientists from abroad by carrying out short-term visits by outstanding scientists from abroad. The call is open to a person employed in a foreign scientific institution as Assistant Professor, Researcher, Associate Professor, Full Professor or Reader (or in equivalent positions). The competition is aimed at researchers planning a visit to an Emerging Fields team or department (does not apply to visits to university centers of excellence).

Please note! Individuals who have already participated in previous editions of the ‘Mobility for Employees’ programme are eligible to participate in the competition.

The competitions were addressed to:

1. postdoctoral fellows going abroad to foreign centres,
2. postdoctoral fellows visiting UMK,
3. experienced research and research-teaching staff going abroad to foreign centres,
4. visiting professors at UMK.

The competition requirements and application procedure were specified in the competition rules. The substantive evaluation of the competition applications was carried out by three scientific councils for specific fields of science. The composition of the Field Councils is available on the website of the Initiative of Excellence – Research University.

In the 11th edition of the Mobility Competition, 36 winners were selected from 47 applications to the HS council, 23 applications to the ST council and 29 applications to the NZ council (a total of 99 applications, 93 applications meeting the formal requirements, 6 applications withdrawn at the request of the applicants). All applications that met the formal requirements were subject to substantive evaluation by the relevant scientific councils for the fields of science.

As a result of the individual evaluations, on 16 April 2025, a list of winners of the 11th edition of the mobility competitions under the ‘Initiative of Excellence – Research University’ programme at UMK was drawn up:

The Call criteria and the mode of submitting call applications are specified in the Rules of the Call. The applications were evaluated formally and substantively by three Scientific Councils for fields of science appointed by the Rector, Prof. Andrzej Sokala. The composition of the respective Scientific Councils is available on the website of the Initiative of Excellence – Research University.

47 winners were selected in the Mobility Program addressed to professors and post-doc interns. 18 applications were submitted to the Scientific Council for HS, 27 applications were submitted to the Scientific Council for ST, and 18 applications were submitted to the Scientific Council for NZ (the total of 63 applications meet formal criteria, 57 applications met formal criteria, 1 application submitted after the closing date of recruitment, 5 applications were annulled at the request of the applicants). All applications which met formal criteria were evaluated substantively by the relevant Scientific Councils.
